Statement by President Little on Obama State of the Union Speech
In President Obama’s State of the Union address tonight he spoke of his vision for our country— an America “built to last.” We, the Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO, applaud the President for laying this blueprint to help get our country back on track and look forward to pushing for actions that will create jobs now.

During President Obama’s tenure, the economy has added 3.2 million private sector jobs, but it’s no secret that for every one job
opening, there are four people more still looking for work. Those of us lucky to have jobs feel the strain as well. Even some with good union jobs are forced to choose between the mortgage payment and putting food on the table— due to the efforts of some to take away the right to collective bargaining, affordable healthcare, and the promise of a dignified retirement.
